In a collaboration between UCSF and the National Marrow Donor Program we are launching a study to collect data on COVID-19 in volunteer bone marrow donors with pre-existing HLA genotyping data to learn more about the role of HLA variation in disease. We are partnering with the UCSF COVID-19 Citizen Science initiative to allow donors to track COVID-19 symptoms, testing, and outcomes using a smartphone app. Based on our previous study examining self-identification and HLA, we anticipate ultimately enrolling upwards of 300,000 participants.
